The Chalange
Northwind was managing sales and regional distribution using Excel and outdated reports — leaving their leadership blind to what’s selling, where, and why.
Manual tracking meant they couldn’t spot high-performing product categories, understand discount impacts, or monitor stock movement across locations. Decision-making was reactive, often based on guesswork rather than facts.
They needed a smarter way to visualise category-wise performance, customer buying patterns and product profitability across their US network.
What We Did
Northwind partnered with us to transform their fragmented reporting process into a modern, decision-ready analytics ecosystem. Since the start of the engagement we have been focused on two concurrent workstreams: Category-Level Analytics and Product-Performance Visibility.
Category-Level Analytics – We built a live Power BI solution that consolidated two years of sales, discount and order data across eight product categories. These dashboards surfaced channel performance across key US markets, powered automated business reviews and helped quantify market share (19.46%) in high-growth regions.
Product-Performance Visibility – We rolled out SKU-level reporting to expose top performers, discount heavy products and discontinued items. The dashboards track orders, basket price, dispatch status and discount leakage — enabling leaders to optimise pricing strategies, rationalise inventory, and increase revenue capture on fast-moving lines like beverage and condiments.

The Results
- 19.46% US market share clearly identified and attributed
- 100% visibility into category-wise and product-wise profitability
- Discount leakages traced and optimised down to 6.7% avg.
- Advanced insights on 507 units in stock and 170 dispatched improving fulfilment
